Pixel Rug, 2560×2560 @4x (10240×10240) PNG One of ten Pixel Rugs created in December 2025 and January 2026 to mark the release of Pixel Rugs, the first monograph of the project, published by Vetro Editions with support from the Tezos Foundation. Combining early pixel-art aesthetics, glitch culture, and the optical warp and weft of woven carpets, Pixel Rugs are built from thousands of colored pixels. Subjected to layering, tiling, and compression, these compositions become a distortion of colors and textures, familiar patterns broken down into something luminous and hypnotic. Rooted in the generative pieces released on hic et nunc during the spring of 2021, and ongoing on Teia, the book follows the project's evolution through studio sketches, code snippets, and essays by Casey Reas and Anika Meier. Pixel Rugs is printed using Quadrifluox, an experimental five-color fluorescent offset technique using four fluorescent PMS inks plus Pantone 812 C. The result is a vivid neon palette that standard CMYK cannot reach, with pages reactive under UV light. Proceeds from primary sales of these ten rugs support the book.
