Education

teia.cafe originally started as an independent project within TEIA's community ecosystem, as the successor of the Hic et Nunc movement in 2021. How TEIA's DAO actually runs - governance, fees, stats, licensing, bakers, documentation - all transparent and on-chain since 2022. teia.cafe has been the primary development force behind TEIA's main site since 2023, and that work has been supervised and managed by the DAO throughout - either by open poll of TEIA token holders, or through the TEIA DAO multisig, where the core team has to reach quorum before anything moves.

The DAO is run by its TEIA token holders, who count as operating members of TEIA DAO LLC.

About

teia.cafe Inc. was started as a company to support the activities and efforts around the Teia arts community - the successor to the legendary Hic et Nunc movement of 2021. Teia was born in 2022 as a democratized fork of HEN, formalized into a non-profit DAO, TEIA DAO LLC. teia.cafe began in 2023 as a music-focused project for Teia and was incorporated as its own C-Corp in 2025.

Everything teia.cafe does is blockchain-based: no database and no login. You connect with one wallet and the blockchain takes care of the rest - immutable, transparent, and verifiable.

We're a two-person founding team: Ryan Tanaka (CEO/COO, crypto since 2013) and Johannes Simon (CTO, full-stack developer with systems architecture expertise). As core members of the Teia DAO multisig, we work at the intersection of community, commerce, and infrastructure - liaising with investors, foundations, DeFi partners, and the wider Tezos ecosystem to keep everything aligned.
