- AI eliminates jobs. (Doesn't matter if the advocates or critics are right, the belief itself is enough.)
- Stock market crashes. (Laid-off workers liquidate stocks to pay for mortgages.)
- Real-estate market crashes. (People run out of stocks to sell, forced to liquidate homes.)
- Credit market collapses, then banks. (Job losses turn mortgage assets into liabilities.)
- Government tries to bail out the banks again - debt spirals out of control, the US dollar loses its value. (Interest-on-debt becomes the US's largest expenditure.)
- The dollar hyperinflates, people start moving their money into other assets and currencies. (Foreign currencies, crypto, hard assets, etc.)
This is the "doom-loop" that economists and experts have been warning about for a while now. With current trajectories, these outcomes are mathematically guaranteed in the next few years unless there is a radical shift in the way the US handles its economy in the near future.
And this is even without mentioning the wars going on in the Middle East, which isn't exactly helping with any of this, either.
